beginning to model in sketchup

Trying to build the object by guessing the shapes that fit into the negative spaces, not always so easy... but the grid system is really helpful for quick measurements and getting the angles right without having to use a compass.

building tools to help understand the form

I built a box with a turntable so the model can be viewed through a grid which can be replicated in sketchup. This allows for quick locating of points in the model and relative angles between them. That's the theory anyway....
